I once saw a dog on TV that could even shoot baskets. So I know dogs can play basketball. My dog preferred tennis balls though. But only for playing catch, not tennis.

@Ratty: our dog is more like a football and soccer player than a basketball player, we dont have football or soccer ball at hand, so we used the basketball instead :-) it would be nice if our dog can shoot basketball in the basket hoop though but thats gonna be a lot of training
We had a boxer growing up and he LOVED his deflated basketball. Probably one of his favorite toys.

@Myndie: we buy our dogs new basketball usually but after few weeks they ended up being deflated and they dont really mind, they still play with them. they have quite a few deflated b-balls.

Not only can dogs play ball but they dont mind if the ball is just a little dented on one side :)
