A Surgery For Our Princess

Meet our beautiful adopted pet dog Katie. We happily rescued her several years ago from the local animal shelter, when she was a still a puppy, less than a year old. She is a mixed breed with a mixture of rhodesian ridgeback and sharpei type of dogs as her biological parents.





Weeks ago we noticed that she has a growth in her behind, just below her tail. It was smaller back then. We noticed recently that its growing so much bigger with a size more than a marble, almost 3/4 of an inch, which is beginning to really bother her a lot. Few days ago, the growth started to bleed and we try to clean it but it is still an open would and putting a band-aid on it is impossible because it is just below her tail.. We would like to rush here to an animal hospital as soon as we can inorder to have this growth taken care of before it get infected especially that it is located just below her tail and everytime she do her business, the chances that her bowel movement rubbing against it the wound is 99 percent because the growth is that close to the opening, unfortunately. Her name is COCO, the darling senior female dog who have strong passion for traveling, and love to love humans. She was originally the one and special best friend and companion of my hubby's mommy (Mom Barb), and now we do our very best to treat her with the same love and attention that she used to get day in and day out.

Coco is in her senior years so we try to feed her with softer food to make it easier on her broken teeth. She is very selective with the foods that she ate, and prefers moist and tender alternatives. To balance her nutrition, we still give her some hard kibbles but with mixed-in softer flavors to encourage her to it.

She is totally affectionate with humans, but she does not work very well with other dogs which is not the best since we also have another dog in the family named KATIE (see another article to know more about Katie). She is super energetic specially when she is outdoors running around in the yard without a lease.

First post, cheers to our pups (Part 1)

Meet KATIE, she is our baby girl! She is a mixed-breed, half Ridgeback and half Sharpie. But physically, i should say that she is defintely 90 percent Ridgeback basing on her short brown shinny coat, big lean musculine body and visible dark stripe in the back bone. Her face got wrinkly at times which definitely a Sharp Hay signs in her veins! She is an important part of our family, she is definitely adorable. Very protective, very thoughtful, so sweet and loving.

We named her KATIE because my hubby have this sense of humor and been wanting to call a dog Katie because it rhymes with the word KITTY, and when he will call Katie, our dog, people may hear the word KITTY and started thinking that he is calling a little cat, and then here comes a big brown dog running towards him when she hears her name Katie being called! It is kind of funny and cute, so her name is officially Katie now.

We got her from the local dog pound. She was surrended by a local family in our area who owns tons of dogs and it was a blessing in disguise that they get rid of her because she become a valuable addition to ours! She was just a little puppy when we got her, quite skinny and silent, but now my gosh, she just loves to chow, and chow and chow. Eating is definitely her favorite thing to do, on top of everything else. She hardly had any problems with different types of foods, dry, soft, moist, chewy, etc.
